billy just turned 3 :) i won't really ride him until he is 4, however i would like to be up on him a few times this fall. we'll see! the time table is totally up to him! i will be sure to share what i learn!! and i'll let you know if it's a good one ;) (which i'm sure it is! LOL)

ReplyDeleteyes. i prefer to wait to ride my horses until they are 4. most of my OWN horses that i've started were 4 when i began riding them and things just went better. they are more mature mentally and physically. it's important to me that the knees are mostly grown over before i start riding and that they're backs are stronger as well. the horses of my own that i started never had any lameness issues and some are well into their 20's and still going strong ;) that's just my own personal preference :)
